4.1. Methodological overview

The methodology followed in this course is oriented towards the achievement of the learning objectives. A wide range of teaching and learning tasks are implemented, such as lectures, practice sessions, autonomous work, study and assessment tasks.

Students are expected to participate actively in class throughout the semester.

Further information regarding the course will be provided on the first day of class. 

4.2. Learning tasks

The course includes the following learning tasks:

  • Lectures.
  • Practice sessions.
  • Autonomous work and study.
  • Assessment tasks.

4.3. Syllabus

The course will address the following topics:

Section I. Medieval History:

  • 1) The feudal system.
  • 2) Society and culture.
  • 3) Intellectual creativity and thinking.

Section II. Early Modern History:

  • 1) The age of discoveries and colonial expansion.
  • 2) New political setups and movements of resistance.
  • 3) The new cultural currents: Renaissance, Baroque, and Enlightenment.

Section III. Modern History:

  • 1) The age of revolutions.
  • 2) Imperialism and the new international order.
  • 3) Modern thought and ideologies.
